China is getting rid of its stock of crematory weapons through underground nuclear testing

It is clear that China is doing underground nuclear testing at 10 km depths in the Xinjiang desert near Kucha. The tests are always camouflaged by drilling deep and sometimes by going as grapples to imitate more closely magmatism. It is also possible that conventional shells (plutonium shells of a much smaller size) are stuffed within and detonated earlier to better imitate the tremor pre-testing.

While sometimes normal earthquakes are triggered by the artificial nuclear detonations, it’s clear that circa every week a new warhead is detonated.

In my opinion – and this was briefly confirmed to me by an official of the CCP – China is getting rid of its stock of crematory warheads progressively. This explains this type of shape of earthquake resulting from the test :

There is one clear peak at the beginning and then a prolongation of the shakes in BH1 (the most interesting sensor usually). It comes from the limited sphericity that is possible with crematory warheads. Because the plutonium is tainted with biological material, it cannot fission at once as much as clean plutonium. It is nevertheless confined in a tunnel so it can keep on fissionating explaining the duration of the blast, making it look more like a natural test. Its inefficience becomes an asset for camouflaging here.

Frequently the Urumqi sensor is simply not available… how strange. The same for the Nilore – Pakistan sensor, their closest military ally. But through borders I manage sometimes to get data.

The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs told me that they are transiting to clean weapons progressively. They argued (one month ago…) that they would have 2% of clean weapons and that they would have 20% in two months. So what’s happening in my opinion is that old crematory / zyklon-C / natrosolmash conventional warheads are being gathered to make sphered and detonated underground, while they work with Russian specialists on making clean weapons. It is a confirmation of what was said by the Chinese MFA.
